The Middle College structure at Redlands Campus
Congratulations to our Middle College leaders for 2010.

The Concordia Middle College provides students with:
- a gradual, rather than a dramatic transition from primary to secondary school.
- one or two teachers who still have the main responsibility for their care and learning, which supports the needs of the students' learning and welfare.
The Concordia Middle College allows for:
- a greater variety of subjects and specialist teaching in Year 7 and beyond.
- specialist staff in creative areas to develop students' skills and confidence while students are still keen to experiment and take risks.
- students to develop a sense of identity because they have their own 'area' which aids their organisation and sense of wellbeing.
The middle college years (years 7-9) allow a smoother transition between primary years and secondary education in an environment that is supportive, nurturing and safe while developing the students' sense of responsibility and self-discipline. The students in Year 7 have the same teacher (Core Teacher) for most of their subjects as well as for Pastoral Care. Specialist teachers take the students for subjects in The Arts and Technology Key Learning Areas (KLA).
Middle College Curriculum
Students in the Middle College will study a variety of Core and Specialist Unit subjects. Core subjects are designed to enable students to receive a balanced education in curriculum areas that are essential for life long learning and their future careers.
Specialist Unit subjects allow students to choose study areas which they may have an interest in or are a part of specialised developmental needs for future studies in various disciplines. The number of Specialist Unit choices increases as the students progress through the Middle College.
A testimony
It is always frightening coming to a new school, but everyone here at Concordia has been so welcoming. I instantly made new friends among all different year levels. I know that these friendships will last forever. My confidence from being made to feel so at home and the positive encouragement I am given, have helped me to discover so many talents that I didn’t know existed within me.
These were discovered by being involved in so many different activities.
These activities have ranged from the academic, such as the Science and Engineering Challenge to the cultural, such as being in the Interact Club, to the sporting such as the tennis championships. A year ago I could not have imaged myself trying these, let alone enjoying and excelling at them. Of course, this has also required a lot of hard work, training, determination and God’s helping hand. The Christian environment at Concordia has added a new outlook on my life. God is changing the way I act, talk and live in every way. This year I have increased my knowledge of God and the Bible through chapel devotions and Christian study lessons.
Yes, many changes have occurred in my life this year. Overall, I have grown and learnt so much. Also, I have enjoyed every moment this year.
But Concordia is more than just a place where there are lots of interesting things to do. It is the way these activities are shaping my life that is the real success. It is the strong bonds of community at Concordia which have encouraged me to have a go at anything, whether I am good at it or not. It makes me feel that the opportunities for me in life are endless.
