$40,000 Basketball Facility Grant Announced for Concordia All Stars
A joint funding arrangement between the Federal Government and Toowoomba Basketball Association will see a $40,000 upgrade to the Concordia Lutheran College Basketball facilities in the coming months.
The Federal Government has provided $20,000 through Round 4 of the Stronger Communities Program which Toowoomba Basketball Association has matched dollar for dollar.
The funding will be used to upgrade the flooring of the basketball court and install new glass backboards, scoreboards and shot clocks.
Upon completion, these enhancements will make the facility’s equipment suitable for State level competitions for Toowoomba representative basketballers.
Concordia’s Head of College Mr Adrian Wiles said the upgrade to the College’s gymnasium has aligned with a strategic objective to build Concordia’s Basketball program for students.
“Concordia is delighted to be partnering with the All Stars Basketball Club to enter Concordia All Stars teams in the local basketball competitions,” Mr Wiles said.
“This significant upgrade, made possible by the Federal Government and Toowoomba Basketball Association, will give our students an exceptional playing facility for competitions and training,” he said.
Federal Member for Groom Dr John McVeigh said the Stronger Communities Program helped fund a wide variety of grassroots projects across the region.
“This important program helps local community organisations like the Toowoomba Basketball Association fund capital works projects that will deliver significant social benefits in our community,” he said.
“I congratulate the Toowoomba Basketball Association on its successful application. These improvement works will make a big difference and support a better and stronger basketball competition across our region.”
