Exciting Upgrades to Concordia's Sporting Facilities
Some of Concordia Lutheran College's key sporting facilities will be transformed in 2019 with some exciting upgrades taking place with the Aquatic Centre, Gymnasium and College ovals in the coming weeks and months.
The College Council has approved a major refurbishment of the heated indoor pool. At a cost of approximately $1 million, the current Aquatic Centre will be remodelled beginning in November 2018, with a reopening date early in 2019.
The upgrade includes a mechanical system to change the environment, new blocks and technology (courtesy of the swim club), flooring, sealing of the carpark, and an upgrade of the external walls and entry.
The upgrade to the Concordia Aquatic Centre will form an integral role in growing swimming at Concordia Lutheran College.
The upgrade of the gymnasium facility has begun with new competition lighting, sealing of windows to prevent the floor from being slippery and new seating installed.
Next week will see the arrival of further equipment in the fitness and weights area, and there will be announcements about use of this area by the Concordia community in due course.
Discussions are underway with Toowoomba Basketball Association, who are keenly interested in supporting the College to upgrade the glass backboards, scoreboards and the floor. We look forward to making a further announcement in the very near future regarding this partnership.
From the beginning of Term 4, 2018, all ovals across the College will be mowed by an outside contractor. We look forward to lifting the condition of the playing fields over the summer break.
