The Week Ahead - End of Term 2, 2026
From the Head of College
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we reach the end of Term 2, it is important that we pause to reflect with deep gratitude on what has been a truly significant season in the life of Concordia. This term marks the end of an important chapter in our College’s journey across three campuses and the beginning of an exciting new one, as we prepare to come together on a single campus for the start of Term 3.
Our 2026 College theme, Celebrating the Journey Together, could not be more fitting for this new season. Concordia’s story has been shaped over many years by faith, service, learning and community. As we step into this next chapter, I do so with deep gratitude for the rich history and the people who have brought us to this point, and with great anticipation for the culture and future we are now building together.
This transition has been the result of an enormous collective effort. I would like to sincerely thank the builders, [Watcon], project managers [Hammond and Neale], architects [Elevation], and the many staff members who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this vision to life. Their dedication, patience and commitment have been instrumental in preparing our new learning spaces and ensuring a smooth transition for our students and families.
Last week’s Come and See event was a wonderful celebration of what awaits us next term. With around 800 members of the Concordia community in attendance, the evening was filled with excitement, acknowledgement of what has been achieved, affirmation of the new learning spaces, and anticipation for the start of Term 3. The feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the thoughtful design of these spaces and the opportunities they will create for learning, connection amongst students, and community life. Events such as these remind us that Concordia is not simply a collection of buildings, but a vibrant Christian community built on relationships, shared values, and a commitment to nurturing and growing the young people in our care.
As we now move forward, it is important that we continue to honour the strong foundations and traditions that have shaped Concordia over the years, while also embracing the opportunity to create a vibrant new chapter together—one that will shape Concordia for generations to come. This future is guided by our vision of inspiring lifelong learners, critical thinkers and caring citizens in a Christian community. Bringing our College together on one campus strengthens our ability to live out this vision each and every day.
Congratulations to all our Lionheart Award recipients this week. We are proud of what these students have achieved and, just as importantly, the effort and character they have shown along the way. These awards celebrate far more than academic outcomes; they recognise perseverance, commitment, growth through making mistakes and trying again, as well as the character and effort students have demonstrated throughout their Semester 1 learning journey. Well done!
I would like to sincerely thank our parents and caregivers for your ongoing loyalty, encouragement and support throughout the term. Your partnership with the College is deeply valued, and your support has been especially appreciated during this season of transition and change.
I also extend my heartfelt thanks to our wonderful staff. Term 2 has been exceptionally busy, with countless learning experiences, excursions, incursions, camps, performances, sporting events, pastoral care moments, and preparations for the campus transition taking place alongside the everyday work of teaching and supporting our students. The dedication and professionalism of our staff continue to be a blessing to our College community.
As the term comes to an end, I encourage all families to enjoy a well-deserved Winter break. I hope it will be a time of rest; a slower pace, renewed routines, and quality time spent with family and friends. Whether you are travelling or staying close to home, I pray that you will enjoy a safe and refreshing holiday period.
I look forward, with great anticipation, to welcoming the Concordia community back for the official commencement of Term 3 on Tuesday, 14 July, as we begin this exciting new chapter together on our unified campus.
Until then, travel safely, stay warm, and may God’s blessing be with you over the holiday period.
Yours in Christ.

Moving Day
Wow, Term 2 went fast, didn’t it? And now moving day (or moving week) looms large. While we have been preparing for this day for a while, it still, like any such move, seems to suddenly be here, and the reality of the changes and the new beginning for Term 3 sets in.Our theme for the year, 'Celebrating our journey together', is really coming alive as we close the Hume and Warwick Street campuses and all primary students move across to the new Junior College at the Stephen Street Campus at the start of Semester 2. It is a big change, and as with any change, it brings mixed emotions for some.
We have to let go of some aspects of our community as we leave our old campuses after 62 (Warwick Street) and 49 (Hume Street) years of primary schooling in these locations. However, we are bringing our whole community together on the beautiful Stephen Street campus in brand-new buildings designed for a contemporary approach to education, and we are building the foundation for the next 80 years of learning, teaching, and living as a community at Concordia. And our core values and foundation as a Christian community do not change.
Our theme verse takes on deep meaning as we hear the Psalmist's prayer: "How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!" Ps 133:1. We are building a united community out of the three campuses, and as we journey together through these changes, there is indeed much to celebrate and look forward to.
And the task of building one united community in one place is shared by all of us. We can encourage each other along, share the difficult parts of the journey, carry each other’s load and care for one another – no matter whether we are students, staff or families connected to our school community.
Concordia has always had something special, hard to describe – a strong sense of community, a caring and kind attitude, a sense of togetherness – ultimately a gift of God to us, and as we make the move, we know that God is travelling with us and will bless us as we continue to build our community here.
Have a wonderful and restful school holiday, and may our Lord strengthen and bless you as you prepare for the new start next term.

Project Based Learning at Concordia
Junior College
From the Junior College Directors of Campus
Today marked a significant milestone in the life of our College, as it was the final day our Junior College operated across two campuses. We now look ahead to coming together in Term 3 at our new, unified Junior College site. While this transition brings a sense of excitement for the future, it also invites reflection and gratitude.
This morning, we came together for two very special Chapel services—the Decommissioning Service at Hume Street Campus and the Farewell Service at Warwick Street Campus. These were meaningful and memorable occasions, providing an opportunity to pause, acknowledge, and give thanks for the rich history, cherished memories, and strong sense of community that have shaped each campus.
Both Hume Street and Warwick Street have been more than just places of learning. They have been vibrant communities where generations of students have grown in courage, learning, compassion, excellence, respect, and service. Each campus holds its own story, its own traditions, and a special place in the hearts of those who have been part of them. Today, we acknowledged and celebrated all that these spaces have meant to our families, students, and staff over many years.
As we look to the future, we do so with great anticipation. Our new Junior College represents an exciting new chapter where our students and staff will come together in a shared space designed to support connection, belonging, and high-quality learning experiences. In preparation for this transition, our JC staff have been working tirelessly behind the scenes, packing, planning, and moving into their new spaces. Their dedication and commitment to ensuring a smooth and positive start to Term 3 has been truly commendable, and we extend our sincere thanks to each of them for their efforts throughout this busy and demanding semester.
We would also like to thank our families for your ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership during this time of change. Your trust and positivity play a vital role in helping our community move forward with confidence.
As the term draws to a close, we wish all of our students, staff, and families a restful and enjoyable holiday break. May it be a time to relax, recharge, and reflect. We look forward with great excitement to welcoming you all to our new Junior College in Term 3, as we begin this next chapter together.
Blessings for the holidays.

From the Director of Stephen Street Campus
With Term 2 coming to an end, we have much to be thankful for and so much to look forward to as well! Just this past week, our Year 6 Arts Immersion Day was a wonderful celebration of what an amazing Arts program we offer here. Our current and future students enjoyed music, media, drama, visual arts, and dance in a fun and inspiring manner. I had the privilege of watching our students grow in confidence as they were encouraged to explore new areas creatively. Special thanks go out to our exceptional Arts staff members, who have created such an amazing event for our students to enjoy.
Events like these serve as a reminder that our educational mission goes beyond academics.
This Week Ahead issue also has special significance for me personally, since it is the last newsletter that I will be publishing as the Director of Stephen Street Campus. With the arrival of Term 3, we begin a new stage in our lives as the three campuses come together to form the Secondary College. This is more than just an organisational change because now, we continue developing as a united community of learners.
In a parallel to the Christian faith, it is evident that the change of names in the Bible had a special meaning since people were called to fulfill a new mission rather than deny what happened before. For example, God changed the name of Abram, saying that he would be called Abraham, which means a father of many nations (Genesis 17:5). Later, Jesus changed the name of Simon, calling him Peter, who became the rock on which He built His Church (Matthew 16:18). Finally, when the disciple Saul met Jesus on the way, he became known as Paul (Acts 13:9), taking up his mission of preaching the Gospel.
Certainly, most appropriately, Isaiah 43:19 speaks of the workings of God in times of transition: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
Indeed, these words speak of the situation in which we find ourselves in the College. As we journey from Stephen Street, Warwick Street and Hume Street to unite as one Secondary College, we are not abandoning our past but rather bringing together the strength and heritage of each campus, knowing that God is at work creating something new and meaningful in the midst of all.
Moving forward to Term 3, there are many exciting times on the horizon. Our Year 8, Year 10 and Year 11 camps will be an important part of this as they will afford students the opportunity to grow outside of the classroom through resilience building and relationship building. The second ROAR Day of the year also comes at the end of Term 3, giving our Houses one final chance for glory in a fun-filled day of competition based on ingenuity and creativity.
It is equally amazing to realise that the third term will be the last full-term for our Year 12 students. This has been an incredible journey, and we are fast approaching a period when our students must undergo their assessments and prepare themselves for life
outside the school. As such, we continue to encourage them and pray for them in this very crucial period of their lives.
In light of the conclusion of this term, I would like to thank all our students, parents and staff for your continued support and dedication. It has been an honour to be the Director of Stephen Street Campus and I look forward to the start of Semester 2 as the Director of the Secondary College.
May God bless your holidays and I welcome you all back in the third term as we continue on our journey united as one college.
Yours in faith,
Mr Jamie Pukallus
Director of Campus

Boarding News
As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term here at Concordia, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support of our boarding community.
Term 2 has been filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences for our students. We have enjoyed several outings and activities together, including our trip to Harbour Town, bowling and movie excursions, and our Reconciliation Dinner, which provided an important opportunity to come together, reflect on what reconciliation means, and celebrate the diverse cultures and stories within our community.
We are incredibly proud of the way our boarders approached their academic responsibilities this term. Many students demonstrated excellent organisation and commitment by completing and submitting assessments early, allowing them to finish the term feeling prepared and confident. Their efforts, resilience, and willingness to support one another have been wonderful to see.
Our students have also enjoyed considerable success across a variety of sporting pursuits, including rugby league, netball, basketball, and volleyball. We are fortunate to have so many talented and passionate athletes within our boarding community. This passion has certainly been on display over the past few weeks as students gathered to watch State of Origin. With plenty of footy fanatics in the dorms, the atmosphere has been fantastic and, of course, there has been plenty of support for Queensland!
At the heart of everything we do in boarding is the wellbeing of our students. We are committed to creating a supportive and homely environment where every student feels safe, valued, and encouraged to grow academically, socially, and personally. It has been rewarding to watch friendships strengthen, confidence develop, maturity grow, and students continue to build independence throughout the term.
As boarding staff, we are privileged to have a front-row seat to the growth and development of your children, and it is a genuine blessing to witness the young adults they are becoming.
Looking ahead to Term 3, we have an exciting range of activities planned, including:
- Christmas in July celebrations during the second week back
- Movie outings
- Bowling and laser skirmish
- Painting and trivia nights
- An escape room excursion
- Attendance at the NRL double-header featuring the Broncos vs Roosters and the Broncos vs Warriors
Please note: these events are subject to change depending on weather and staffing requirements related to activity risk assessments.
We also have several important school events coming up, including the Year 8, Year 10, and Year 11 camps.
To celebrate the achievements of our boarders, we will conclude the term with our Boarder Recognition Dinner and Valedictory Dinner in Week 10.
As we move into the winter break, we encourage all students to take the opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy quality time with family and friends. Please remember to pack plenty of warm clothing when returning next term, as the colder weather is certainly here.
If your child is attending any upcoming camps, please ensure they return to boarding organised and prepared with everything they need.
Should you have any concerns or require assistance during the holiday break, please feel free to contact Maureen after 2 July on 0490 890 917.
Thank you again for entrusting us with the care of your children. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of their journey and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another enriching and successful term.
We wish all our boarding families a safe, restful, and happy holiday. Enjoy your family time, look after one another, and stay safe.
To our boarding staff—thank you for caring. You go above and beyond every day. Take time to rest and recharge for yet another busy term.
