This week Erin Cash from Internet Safe Education spoke to students, from years 5-12, and parents about the importance of Cyber Safety. Erin has over a decade of experience in law enforcement. As a Police Officer, Erin was a specialist in the field of undercover online internet investigations seeking out internet-based child exploitation offences. Listen for strategies of protection and prevention to empower you, as a parent/carer, to reduce online risks.

Covid-enforced border closures seriously impacted the pipeline of students into schools like Toowoomba’s Concordia Lutheran College. Three years after borders began to reopen and Concordia is starting to rebuild its roster of international students with four new long-term students from Papua New Guinea (PNG) this year.

Malone: Concordia's Latest Broncos Recruit

The Brisbane Broncos may have unearthed another South Burnett superstar after signing Concordia Lutheran College’s Leroy Malone to a new contract. The 15-year-old fullback hails from Cherbourg in the South Burnett, the same hometown as current Broncos flyer Selwyn Cobbo, and has just signed for a further three years with the Brisbane Club.

Teacher Retirement: Fond Memories and New Beginnings at Concordia Lutheran College

Learning assistant David Heuschele has worn out a few sets of shoes in his time at the Concordia Lutheran College. David first walked the halls of the historic school in 1977 when he started as a boarder and would tread the boards for the next four years before graduating. He then came back to the school as teacher’s assistant and clocked up more than 21 years at the school until retiring this week.

Toowoomba carnival season to extend into next month with Oktoberfest!

Concordia Lutheran College has announced a community-centred Oktoberfest event for October 7 in the college grounds at Stephen Street. The College teaches German as a subject and hopes the new festival will enhance the connection for students to gain a better understanding of the Germanic culture. The leading organizer for the event, Emma Pukallus, said Oktoberfest at Concordia will be a celebration of the German culture with an array of traditional German activities that will transport attendees straight to the heart of Bavaria.

Concordia Lutheran College Year 6 students will this week reveal the fifth iteration of its skateboard deck art project. For the past five years students at the Junior Campus have been making unique handmade pieces of art from skateboards and this year have been asked to undertake a public showing of the work by the Toowoomba Lighthouse’s Write Gallery.

Concordia Lutheran College clinched a rare double in the process of claiming city dominance in the pool during the recent QCIS interschool swimming championships. The Concordia Turbo Jets swim team topped both the aggregate and the percentage points – the first time the school has achieved that on its way to winning the overall title.
