Junior College

We currently have two specialised Junior College campuses - Hume Street Campus and Warwick Street Campus - the focus on every child in our care is to ensure a balanced individual who is ready for the next stage in their school career.

Please note that in 2025, as part of our master plan, the College will be constructing a new purpose built, upper Junior Learning Centre on the Stephen Street Campus. From 2025 this will house years 4 to 6. In 2026, this precinct will be completed with the construction of a lower Junior Learning Centre. From 2026 this will house years P to 3, and all our Junior College operations will be focused at the Stephen Street location. The College will be carefully guiding its valued community through this process, and you can read more about our plans here.

At Concordia Lutheran College’s Junior College, we strive to provide a happy, healthy and safe place for your child during the important early years. Built on rich academic foundations, our dedicated team of teachers and support staff instill in our students, from Prep to Year 6, the importance of being lifelong learners, as well as proactive members of the community.

While our extensive resources allow for challenging academic programs, we also understand the importance of emotional wellbeing; for this, we provide carefully crafted pastoral care.

Our Current Facilities

Concordia’s safe, well-kept grounds are where the positive learning experience begins. Inside the classroom, students benefit from air conditioning, state-of-the-art sound systems, interactive whiteboards.

Our Junior Colleges both have multipurpose halls for students to participate in a variety of activities as well as classrooms designed for specialist subjects including Music, Science and Manual Arts.

Concordia offers a highly regarded Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Program. Our Hume Street Campus offers Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care. Currently, our Warwick Street Campus offers After School Care only. Please click here to learn more about Outside School Hours Care.

Junior College students also have access to facilities at our Stephen Street Campus including:

  • Indoor heated swimming pool (CLC Aquatic Centre)
  • College Chapel
  • EdVenture Zone: a unique, goal-focused learning environment
  • Multipurpose gymnasium with a purpose-built dance studio
  • Centre for Scientific Inquiry
  • Hospitality Centre
  • In-house Uniform Shop
  • Inter-Campus bus service
  • Curriculum

Our core business is education, implemented through the delivery of the Australian Curriculum. Our teaching teams from Prep to Year 6 are highly trained and supported in the delivery of successful learning outcomes for every student.

The quality of our teaching programs and instructional tools, along with the flexibility and capacity of our teaching practice, allow us to cater for differentiated learning. This is supported by comprehensive data collection and regular consultation and reporting to parents.

Key Learning Areas are English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, German, The Arts (Music, Drama, Dance, Visual Arts) and Christian Studies. Information Technology is taught and integrated at every given opportunity. Regular chapel services provide opportunities for students to understand our core values and how these may relate to daily living.

    Camps and Excursions

We understand that not all learning happens inside the classrooms. Educational excursions are offered from Prep to Year 6 to enhance the curriculum. Year 3 to Year 5 students participate in ‘bush to beach’ camps throughout the year. The highlight for Year 6 is the annual trip to Cairns.

We are so happy with the College and are blown away at the beautiful sense of community.
