Incoming Head of College Appointment
Mr Adrian Wiles has been appointed as the new Head of College at Concordia Lutheran College, effective 1 January 2018.
Mr Wiles was the unanimous choice of the selection panel after a rigorous nationwide search. He comes to Concordia from the Queensland Independent Schools Block Grant Authority Ltd, where he has served as the General Manager and Company Secretary since the start of 2017.
Prior to that appointment, Adrian was Head of College at St Peters Lutheran College (Indooroopilly and Springfield schools) for a period of five years. St Peters is the largest Lutheran school in Australia, with over 2,500 students across the two school sites. It is also one of the most complex school environments in which to lead, as it incorporates a thriving boarding community, an outdoor education centre and two separate schools separated by approximately 20 kilometres.
Adrian has been a Board member of Independent Schools Queensland, and recently stepped down as chair of the ISQ Education Advisory Committee. Throughout his career, Adrian has both chaired, and been a member of, many professional organisations in Queensland, and elsewhere within Australia.
Having led four of the largest Lutheran schools in the nation over the last 20 years: St Peters, Immanuel Lutheran College at Buderim, Luther College in Croydon Victoria and Good Shepherd College in Hamilton Victoria, Adrian has both extensive experience in, and a great passion for, Lutheran education.
He is also clear about the ethos of Lutheran schooling and supports the embedding of those practices that define authentic Lutheran schools.
Outside his professional career, Adrian loves to exercise whether it be by walking, bike riding or paddling. He plays guitar and enjoys a wide variety of music. Adrian is a voracious reader, a lover of working with wood, and he is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of his service to the wider community.
Born and raised in western New South Wales in Broken Hill, he engages easily with diverse community members and is always keen for a chat.
Adrian has a deep and lived Christian faith. He is excited by the prospect of joining us at Concordia and will bring his strong leadership, collaborative partnering and communication skills to the College. He and Jane are looking forward to being part of our church and school communities.
Mr Wiles will be joined in Toowoomba by his wife, Jane. The Concordia community joins together to warmly welcome Adrian and Jane in January 2018.
