Dear Parents and Caregivers

Thank you to the many families who have attended Parent Information events over the past fortnight. We hope that these events have provided you with quality information, great transparency as well as the establishment of a strong working partnership for 2023. Thank you to our Parent Connect groups, Campus Directors and other staff for their professionalism and planning in hosting these events. Please keep the College calendar handy as you plan your time around the many upcoming events across both the Junior and Senior College.

We had the wonderful privilege on Monday to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding academic results of the Class of 2022. It was great to welcome some of these students and their families back to Concordia. Many of these students have already joined the workforce while others are getting ready to begin their tertiary studies in the coming fortnight. I need to thank the Concordia staff for their collective effort and input in these students’ lives over the past number of years. Good luck, safe travels and every blessing to these young adults and their families for the next exciting journey awaiting them.

Community News

From the Director of Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

As a result of the global pandemic, there has been a noticeable shift in the amount of time people spend on screen-based devices. Families are transitioning back to pre-COVID routines but there can still be some struggles around screen use. The digital age allows us to easily access information at a click of a button and communicate with loved ones across the world. The more connected we become digitally, the more difficult it can sometimes be to maintain face-to-face connection within our own homes.

The latest research found that 77% of teenagers spend more than five hours on screens per day, but it is important to note that not all screen time is considered equal.

From the Director of Marketing and Enrolments

As a parent/caregiver, the College invites you to share what you love about Concordia with others. In an increasingly competitive educational landscape, we want to share with the wider community what Concordia is all about. This allows us to differentiate ourselves from other schools and keeps the College growing into the future . The College is in partnership with our parents and students, and invites you to share the exciting and innovating undertakings happening across our campuses.

One of the most effective ways to do this is through effective marketing. Marketing a school requires an authentic approach that emphasises the school's unique strengths, values, and mission.  At Concordia Lutheran College, we focus on promoting our programs and activities, highlighting our successes, and communicating our values to potential students, parents, and faculty.

Project Based Learning at Concordia

Junior College

From the Junior College Directors

The beginning of each school year can be both exciting and slightly daunting for our students as they enter a new environment, experience a new teacher and work on a more challenging program. As we head into Week 4 of Term 1 our students are reminded of what it means to have a Growth Mindset.

Nut Free Zone

At the beginning of each year it’s always timely to remind families that our Junior College campuses are nut free zones. As we have many students with significant allergies, we would appreciate your support in making sure that the students have lunch boxes that are nut free. We know there are many students who enjoy peanut butter or Nutella sandwiches, but if those sandwich choices could be saved for weekend lunches it would be appreciated.

Prep 2024

Interviews for Prep 2024 will begin soon. Don’t forget to ensure your 2024 Prep student is enrolled. If you have friends who need more information, please let them know to give us a call.

Stephen Street Campus

From the Director of Campus

It was our great pleasure to start this week off with our Scholar’s Assembly and Parent Information Evening on Monday.

The Scholar’s Assembly is held to recognise the final results of our previous Year 12 cohort. This takes into account all school-based assessment as well as external exam results. A number of students received multiple awards for their achievement across a range of subjects. Our College Dux this year was a three way split between Skyla Duff, Amyleigh Murphy and Mark Sims. I wish to congratulate all of the students recognised during the assembly. These hard-working students applied themselves throughout their 13 (not just one) years of schooling, and are truly deserving of these accolades.

Boarding

Boarding News

Hi to all our boarder families.

I have recapped our weekend at Camp Duckadang, day by day, to give you all an overview. Hope you all enjoy the read.

Today, Monday the start of the school week, well for us its either the end or mid-week, never the beginning. My shift started at 6.30am this morning with a pleasant “Morning, time to get up girls“ and many a student had to drag themselves out of bed for the start of the day

I get it!  Boarders are at school for 10 weeks not 5 days and it gets harder as the weeks go by especially, this morning after such a successful camp at Camp Duckadang.

What a magical place , tucked away between rolling hills 2 hours from Concordia.

Welcome from the Leadership Team
