Do We Need Another Hero?

10 budding music performance students from the College were able to experience a joyful celebration of songs about bravery and heroism at the Armitage Theatre on Saturday evening. Opera Qld did not disappoint with their repertoire ranging from pop to opera, country to classical genres while covering artists including The Beatles, David Bowie, John Farnham as well as Beethoven and Bizet. This live musical tribute inspired students with their chart-topping anthems from the musical archives and unique mashups that demonstrated not only the impressive vocal talents of the performers, but also their ability to provide their own instrumental backing with piano, guitars, fiddles, percussion instruments and the piano accordion all being performed live on stage.

Welcome Chappie Bec!

Introducing our new Junior College Student Wellbeing Chaplain. Rebecca Phillips is a familiar face in Toowoomba, having lived here her whole life. She's a loving wife and a proud mother to a nearly 3-year-old. With a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and postgraduate studies in Counselling (Child, Youth & Family Therapy), Chappie Bec is equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide exceptional support to our students. She is also an accomplished dance teacher at Dance Central in Toowoomba, teaching students of all ages for the past 15 years. Her passion for the arts and her experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities have shaped her into a compassionate and understanding support person.

Chappie Bec wants to use her expertise and experiences to make a real difference in the lives of our students. As our Junior College Student Wellbeing Chaplain, Chappie Bec's goal is to offer support, guidance, and a listening ear to students who may be struggling emotionally or academically. She aims to build strong relationships with our students, ensuring that they feel comfortable and supported throughout their time at Concordia. Welcome to our amazing team!
