Weekly Update

Welcome to another edition of The Week Ahead. This week and next week are times where we catch up with matters that have built up throughout the first five weeks of the term. It seems like no time at all since we started the virtual learning packages, and all the organisation associated with this change in delivery platform. Now we are settling into the normal flow of school activity that fills the end of any school semester e.g. examinations, assignments, reports and the list goes on. We continue to meet challenges in this new education world on a very regular basis and I thank our community for walking with us on this journey.

This week we have been interviewing applicants for 2021 Scholarships. What a delight it has been to speak to so many young people who are engaged with their passions in life, and who have so much to offer our College. A record number of students have applied, and I look forward to completing the process in the coming week and to making offers to those who will be successful in their application.

In the first week of the coming school holidays, enrolment tours will recommence. We will be taking into account the health guidelines that will be in place at the time; however, I would encourage members of our community to let other parents know that bookings will need to be made through the office of our Enrolment Registrar as soon as possible.

Why I love my job...

I feel like the Stephen Street Campus has let out a collective sigh this week as we all found our way back into classrooms and have enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with each other. On Wednesday, I convened the inaugural Stephen Street Campus Captains’ Cabinet where I challenged our Leaders to reimagine the way that we continue to create and share opportunities for students to flourish. The new Weekly Madness section on LOVE CLC will be just one way that our Captains will be connecting with our community and I look forward to seeing their other initiatives gain traction. This morning, one of our Year 11 students floated the idea of a CLC Podcast…. I think they might be onto something… watch this space.

Today's arrivals also looked slightly more vibrant than the usual blue and white, with students and staff getting behind our Student Council to raise funds and awareness of the work that is being done by Base Services, Toowoomba. Students raised $150 and also donated a huge range of non-perishable food and toiletries. Well done and thank you!
