Student Illness
As we move through to the end of Term 3, we kindly remind families of the importance of keeping children at home when they are unwell. Even mild symptoms such as coughs, colds, or upset stomachs can spread quickly through classrooms, impacting the health and learning of other students and staff. Allowing your child the time to rest and recover not only supports their own wellbeing but also helps us maintain a healthy and safe environment for all children at school. We greatly appreciate your support in caring for our whole community.

A Night of Song and Celebration
On Monday evening, the Empire Theatre came alive with the voices of over 500 students in the grand finale of the Paul Morton Festival – a powerful and heartfelt tribute to former Downlands student and passionate musician, Paul Morton, whose legacy continues to inspire young singers across Toowoomba.
Now a beloved annual tradition, the festival unites Toowoomba’s secondary school choirs in a celebration of music, connection, and community. The afternoon began with a massed choir rehearsal of Adiemus by Sir Karl Jenkins, conducted by guest conductor and Concordia’s own Ms Hayley Sugars. Students from more than 13 schools then enjoyed a shared dinner on the theatre lawns before the evening’s performances began.
Concordia College proudly contributed two standout performances: the Choir delighted audiences with I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, while Con Voce captivated the crowd with a groovy rendition of Set Me On Fire. Both ensembles received enthusiastic applause, especially for their featured soloists.
The evening concluded with a breathtaking combined performance by all choirs — a true celebration of unity through music.
A heartfelt thank you to Christina Marangelli for organising Concordia’s participation, to Neil Roche-Kelly and Lorraine Miller for their musical leadership, to Ms Hayley Sugars for directing the massed choir, and to Downlands College for hosting what has become one of the most anticipated musical events of the year.
