“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.” Anthony J D’Angelo.

The passion that our students and teachers have for their learning was evident last night as both Junior Campuses opened their classrooms for a special Twilight Showcase. The students were proud and excited to explain to their parents all that they had been learning over the last five weeks. Under the careful guidance of our teaching staff, Concordia students are able to confidently discuss their learning journey and have a clear understanding of their achievements and the goals that still lay ahead. Congratulations to all who were involved in this special event.

Reformation Day - 31/10/1517

We are already half-way through the last term for the year and a lot of assessment (including Year 12s going through their final examinations) as well as a lot of end of year celebrations will make these next few weeks very busy. It’s great to see the Year 9 students back on campus and sharing stories about their adventures at Googa.

Community News

From the Director of Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

It is hard to believe that we have reached the final week of the 2023 school year. This year has seen our students demonstrate exceptional dedication to their schooling, with many being acknowledged at the annual Concordia Lutheran College 6-11 Presentation Evening. What a pleasure it was to see so many of our students crossing the Empire Theatre stage to be recognised for their achievements this past year.

From the Director of Marketing and Enrolments

As we venture closer to the end of 2023, it is with great pleasure that I share just a couple of highlights from Concordia Lutheran College over the last couple of weeks. I’m going to cover a remarkable opportunity for a deserving student, in the Bridge to Success Scholarship, celebrate creative talent and a cultural exchange with our guests from Kitatoshima Girls School in Tokyo.

Wijesiri Siblings Shine

Stephen Street Campus students, Dinuk and Dinakshi Wijesiri are rising stars in the fields of Maths and Science.

Dinakshi attended the Global Space Challenge workshop opportunity at UniSQ over the September holiday. She was one of 9 students selected to participate from a group of applicants. As part of this Dinakshi won the award for the best habitat in space out of several countries.

Dinuk was rewarded a Credit for the Australian Maths Olympiad, a 4-hour competition to which he was invited to participate in during Term 3. Dinuk was invited based on his results on other Maths competitions we have run this year. The competition is 10 problem-solving questions of an immense standard.

We are very proud of them both and congratulate them again on their wonderful achievements.

From the Junior College Director of Campuses

Artistic expression knows no bounds, and this was abundantly clear last week at our Art Show. This much-anticipated event, a celebration of creativity and talent, left our visitors amazed as they wandered through the displays of our student's imagination and creativity. We would like to extend a huge thank you to our Art teaching team, Mr John Trappett and Mr David Heuschele for the amazing talent you are able to produce in our students. Your child’s framed artwork will come home over the next week.

Stephen Street Campus

From the Director of Campus

Wow – somehow we are already 5 weeks into term and well past the half-way mark. I would like to start by congratulating our Year 9 students on their resounding completion of the Googa camp experience. Once again, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the camp staff regarding the students' positive attitudes and unwavering determination during their four-week adventure. The long-term benefits of this experience are immeasurable. Not only do our students return with new friendships and lifelong memories, but they also develop essential life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving that will serve them well in their academic and personal journeys. We trust that parents may also be witnessing an increased sense of independence and gratitude upon their child’s return home, with a new perspective on what it takes to provide for others and accept extra responsibilities.
