WS Kindy will once again be holding our Annual Denim Week leading up to Jeans for Genes Day on Thursday 6 August. 

Our College (Junior and Secondary) will be participating on Thursday 6 August with a free dress day (wearing jeans) and a gold coin donation.

 Congratulations to all the Concordia students who participated in the Instrument sections of the Toowoomba Eisteddfod. It has been inspiring to see so many students embrace the opportunity to perform and represent Concordia Lutheran College on their own merits. A special congratulations to the many students who achieved placings throughout the competition, reflecting the incredible breadth of talent within our College community. We are so proud of every performer for stepping onto the stage and sharing their music in a competitive and public environment. What a fantastic few days we have had at the Eisteddfod!

A huge congratulations to all of our ensembles for their outstanding performances. Our Big Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble were both awarded Highly Commended in their sections, while our Concert Band and Year 5 Immersion Band performed exceptionally well and represented the College with excellent music.

These performances are a reflection of the many hours of preparation, dedication, and hard work invested by our students and staff. We are incredibly proud of the commitment shown throughout the rehearsal process and the growth that was evident on stage.

We look forward to hearing all of our ensembles in action at our Ensemble Extravaganza on 10 August, where they will once again have the opportunity to showcase their talents and celebrate another wonderful year of music-making.

To ensure the evening is enjoyable for all families, particularly those with younger students, the concert will run for approximately one hour. The evening will feature performances by the Year 3 and 4 Choir, Junior College Performance Choir, Secondary College Choir, Con Voce, and a CLC combined Choir.

We would love for you to join us for this special evening as our choirs present the repertoire they have been preparing ahead of the Paul Morton Festival (Senior Campus) and Sing Out (Year 5/6 Junior Campus). It promises to be a wonderful celebration of our students' musical achievements and a fantastic opportunity to perform before these important festivals in front of a supportive audience.

As we settle into our new routines at the Junior College, we would like to provide some clarification about how tuckshop operates throughout the school day.

Our students enjoy two eating breaks each day:

• First Break is our main lunch break. This is when students have the opportunity to enjoy their substantial meal, and all hot tuckshop items are served during this break.
• Second Break is our snack break. This shorter break is designed for students to have a lighter snack, such as fruit, vegetables, yoghurt, crackers or another healthy snack to help sustain their energy throughout the afternoon.

When placing tuckshop orders, we ask families to keep this schedule in mind. If your child is ordering a hot meal, it will be available for collection during First Break. Should your child also require something for Second Break, this can either be packed from home or ordered separately from the 2^nd Break menu.

We encourage families to pack a healthy snack for Second Break each day, even if your child has ordered tuckshop for lunch. This helps ensure they remain fuelled, focused and ready for afternoon learning.

Thank you for your support as we continue to establish consistent routines that support our students' wellbeing and learning.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing patience and support as we continue to refine traffic flow around the Junior College. The safety of our students, families and staff remains our highest priority, and we appreciate everyone working together to ensure drop-off and pick-up times run as smoothly as possible.

As a reminder:

• When entering the College from South Street, please turn left into the school grounds.
• When exiting the College, please turn left onto South Street.
• Following these directions helps maintain a safe and efficient flow of traffic and reduces congestion around the school.

You may have noticed an increased police presence in the area this week. Queensland Police have been monitoring traffic movements and supporting safe road use around our College. We thank families for their cooperation and commitment to following our traffic procedures.

We would also like to remind parents that the drive-through zone is intended for active pick-up and drop-off only. If you arrive before 3:00pm, please do not queue or wait in the drive-through area. Instead, we ask that you park in the designated car park until students are dismissed. This helps keep traffic flowing and prevents congestion from extending onto surrounding roads.

Additionally, we ask parents not to wait in the student seating area within the drive-through zone. This space is used to safely supervise and move students to their vehicles, and having adults waiting in this area makes the process more difficult for staff and students. If you are choosing to park and walk in to collect your child, please make your way to the playground pick-up area.

Thank you for your continued support, patience and consideration of others. By following these simple procedures, we can work together to ensure a safe, efficient and positive end-of-day experience for everyone in our community.

On Friday 7 August, the JC Year 1 students will be attending an excursion to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (LPKS).  This will enhance the students’ knowledge and understanding of our studies and research of Australian animals as set out in the Australian Curriculum for Year 1 students.

We ask that all students be dropped off at the Year 1 classrooms at 7.15am for a 7.30am departure.
We will be departing Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary at 1pm. Students will be dropped off at the Junior College for a normal school pickup.

On Monday 7 September to Friday 10 September our Junior College Year 6 students will be attending the exciting Cairns Trip. Please find attached the Parent Information letter and packing list. 

All students are to be dropped at Junior College by 4.30am.

Junior College Track & Field Carnival 2026

On Friday 17 July, Concordia Junior College hosted its annual Inter-House Track and Field Carnival (Years 3-6), where participants delivered outstanding performances and showcased great dedication throughout the event. Starting with the House War Cries at 8:30 AM, students engaged in a variety of events, all while demonstrating house spirit by encouraging one another, enjoying the delicious meal deal, and, most importantly, having fun and celebrating the camaraderie that sporting events foster.

Just a reminder that Junior College Performance Choir will be participating in the Sing Out choral festival at the Empire Theatre on Wednesday 26 August. Please accept this event in Parent Lounge if you have not done so yet.
