How to whitelist emails from Concordia

Follow the instructions below to ensure you receive every important email communication from Concordia.

Gmail

Sign in to your account at Gmail.com and do the following:

Add the address to your contacts

Add the email address that is sending you email (enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au) to your Gmail Contacts. Google will usually deliver email from addresses that are in your Contacts.

Mark messages as ‘Not spam’

  1. If Gmail has marked emails you wish to whitelist as spam, tell Gmail the emails are not spam:
  2. In Gmail, navigate to the spam folder.
  3. Search for emails containing @concordia.qld.edu.au
  4. Select all the emails shown.
  5. Click More and then Not spam.

Create a filter for the address

  1. Login to Gmail, click on the gear icon and select "Settings".
  2. Select "Filters and blocked addresses" in the top bar menu.
  3. Scroll past all your existing filters and select "Create a new filter".
  4. Add the email address that you want to whitelist to the "From" field.

Whitelisting All Concordia Emails

It's also possible to whitelist all emails from a domain. By adding @concordia.qld.edu.au in Step 4 above in the "From" field, it will whitelist every email address belonging to @concordia.qld.edu.au

Outlook

For Outlook.com, Windows Live Mail, Hotmail and MSN Mail, sign in to your account at Outlook.com and do the following:

Add the address to your contacts

Add the enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au to your Outlook.com Contacts. Outlook.com will usually deliver email from addresses that are in your Contacts.

Add the address to your safe senders

  1. Click the cog icon in the top-right corner and then More mail settings
  2. Select Safe and blocked senders and then Safe senders
  3. Add @concordia.qld.edu.au to the list of Safe senders
  4. Return to Safe and blocked senders and then select Safe mailing lists
  5. Add the enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au to the list of Safe mailing lists

Yahoo! Mail

Sign in to your account at Yahoo! Mail and do the following: 

Add the address to your contacts

Add enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au to your Yahoo! Mail Contacts. Yahoo! will usually deliver email from addresses that are in your Contacts.

Create a filter for the address

  1. Mouse over the Settings menu icon and select Settings
  2. Click Filters and then Add
  3. Enter a Filter Name
  4. Either
  5. Select Inbox as the folder to deliver the email to
  6. Click Save and then click Save again:
    • enter @concordia.qld.edu.au in the Sender field, or
    • enter enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au in the Recipient field

Apple Mail

Apple Mail doesn’t have the option to whitelist like some other email providers do. Instead, all you can do is mark something as “Not Junk” and it will be sent to your inbox. Here’s how:

iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open your Mail app and go to the Mailboxes screen.
  2. Select the Junk folder.
  3. Find the email you want to whitelist and swipe left to see options.
  4. Tap the More button.
  5. Tap the Mark button.
  6. Tap the Mark as Not Junk button

Mac OS desktop:

  1. In the top menu, click Mail > Preferences.
  2. Click the Rules tab.
  3. Click Add Rule.
  4. Enter a whitelist name in the Description field, such as "Whitelist: concordia" to create the new rule.
  5. For conditions, set the first dropdown menu item to any. It should say: If any of the following conditions are met.
  6. In the following dropdown menus, select From in the first field and Ends with in the second field.
  7. In the text field following Ends with, enter @concordia.qld.edu.au. This will whitelist all mail from the concordia domain.
  8. Click the plus sign next to the last condition to add another domain with the same criteria if you want to whitelist more domains.
  9. In the Perform the following actions section, set the three dropdown items to: Move Message, to the mailbox: Inbox (or any target folder you want).
  10. Click OK to save the rule.
