The Week Ahead - Term 3, Week 4

Monday 31 July 2023 to Friday 4 August 2023

From the Head of College

From the Head of College

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Thank you to those parents who have taken up the opportunity this week to attend the Master Planning Parent Information Sessions. It has been very affirming to engage in overwhelmingly positive conversations about the many benefits which are awaiting us as we plan to come together as a College in 2025. A clear and consistent message has been that the essence of Concordia is the people, and not buildings or green spaces, that define who we are as a learning and living community. It’s vitally important to the College that transparency and accuracy of information are at the forefront of this feedback timeline from all stakeholders. Please remember to contact the College if you have been unable to attend one of these sessions but would like to have a conversation with a member of the Leadership Team about the content of the Master Plan.

Master Plan - Frequently asked Questions

Will parents have a chance to provide input on the new College building designs

The Community Information Sessions held throughout the process will provide a forum to offer ideas for what the interiors of the new learning spaces might include.

It takes up to 10 mins to drive to the Stephen Street Campus from the Hume Street Campus. Will you offer buses?

Yes. The College will be providing buses.

See you in September

Concordia Lutheran College has made a change to the dates of the Open Morning. It was scheduled for the morning of August 8, but will now be a week of “See you in September”.

This new event will take place for a week from September 11th and will offer opportunity to view the college and its facilities, as well as meet teachers and members of the staff. It will help families see the authentic college environment and ask questions of both staff and students.

As always, parents and carers are welcome to come and inspect any of our Concordia campuses on any school day of the week.

We look forward to seeing you in September! If you would like to register your interest to visit one of the mornings of this week, please send an email to Enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au and be on the lookout for more information. Write the new dates in your calendar.

Youth Leaders Program

The Youth Leaders Program is a volunteer platform for young people aged 14 to 24 to become involved with Toowoomba Regional Council. The program allows young people from across our Region to learn about their local communities' groups, events, activities and youth services.

We currently service a regional population of 173,000 people (ABS, 2021), with approximately 32,000 of these residents being young people.

The Regional Youth Leaders play an important role in ensuring our programs are relevant, meet the needs of local young people and have the greatest reach possible.

The Youth Leaders also get the opportunity to learn about our processes and the role of local governments. We encourage them to have a say and develop grassroots projects to create positive change – not only for our Region's young people but the wider community.

As part of their role, the Youth Leaders provide a voice for other young people, identify community issues and share information on opportunities for young people to connect to events, programs and service providers.

The Youth Leaders represent areas from across the entire Toowoomba Region.

Year 5 Immersion workshop and Debut performance

They had a fun music filled morning which also included sectionals with the specialist tutors on their specific instrument. They looked impressive with immaculate posture and sounded fantastic! Early this term, each campus band had their debut perform on assembly! The audiences were able to identify each song played and each performer was so proud of their achievements. The Year 5 classes are looking forward to representing the College in the Toowoomba Eisteddfod, Monday 31 July.

Mrs Sally Weir will be taking some very well-deserved Long Service Leave at the end of this term. Her leave will be for Weeks 7-10, and during this time Mrs Melissa Reimann will teach the Year 2 class for 4 days/week and Miss Fiona Collingwood for 1 (Thursdays). Most children will know Melissa and Fiona but over the coming weeks, both teachers will have the opportunity to come into the classroom and spend time with the students before Sally goes on leave.

To maintain continuity for our Year 1’s. Melissa will continue teaching Year 1 on a Thursday and Mrs Angela Norley will teach them on the Friday.
