Rise & Read Club
Start your day with a story!
The library is excited to introduce the Rise & Read Club offering students the opportunity to start their day off right - with some reading time, of course. Starting in Week 7 (Book Week!), students will be offered the chance to come along to the library and find a cosy reading spot under the Library Tree, do some extra returns and borrowing or even learn more about our collections, our online catalogue and how to find their next great read with some help from Mrs Trappett.
Parents are welcome to drop their child/ren off to the library and continue with their day or they can stay for the morning and soak up the book joy with their child/ren. Please bring an umbrella for the wet weather.
Here's what you need to know:
Day/Time - 7.45am every Wednesday Morning
Where - JC Library at WSC
Supervision - 2 Staff Members will be on site for supervision
Logistics - Parents can drop their students to the Library and sign them in with one of the staff members. The students will then be walked over to the JC by staff in time for the beginning of the school day.

JC Father’s Day Stall and Volunteer Register - Thursday 3 September
We will be running our annual Father’s Day Stall on Thursday 3 September. This year there will be both $5.00 and $10.00 gifts available to purchase.
Gifts - Your child/ren may like to purchase a present for Dads, Grandads or any other special fatherly role models. Money will need to be brought to school on Thursday 3 September. If you would like your child to purchase more than one gift (maybe for Grandad?), there may be an opportunity for them to do so.
Please place the money in an envelope marked with:
- Child’s name
- Amount in envelope
- Number of gifts to be purchased

JC Prep Ipswich Nature Centre Excursion - Tuesday 8 September
We are very excited to let you know that on Tuesday 8 September, we will be going to Ipswich Nature Centre for our 2026 excursion. As part of our Biological Sciences Unit, the Preps are exploring the external features of plants and animals.
If you haven't already done so, please go to Parent Lounge as soon as possible and provide permission for your student to attend this excursion.

JC Year 6 Cairns Trip - 7-10 September
On Monday 7 September to Friday 10 September our Junior College Year 6 students will be attending the exciting Cairns Trip. Please find attached the Parent Information letter and packing list.
All students are to be dropped at Junior College by 4.30am.

We would love your help on Grandparent's Day to either provide a plate of food for morning tea and/or help set up and serve.

Please be aware that we have a number of students at the Junior College with severe nut and egg allergies. To help us provide a safe environment for all students, we kindly ask that food brought along for Grandparents Day does not contain nuts, boiled eggs, mayonnaise, or other obvious egg-based ingredients.
As we do not have the facilities to reheat food, any savoury items should be suitable to be served cold.
We would also appreciate food being brought in disposable plates or containers to assist with the smooth clean-up of the event.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we work together to keep all members of our community safe while enjoying this special celebration.
JC Prep to Year 2 Swimming Lessons
Our students from Prep to Year 2 will commence their swimming lessons at the Concordia Aquatic Centre (CAQ) this term. They will participate in five lessons, across Week 9 and Week 10.
Please ensure that students have the following items:
- Warm clothing - this would be great for the students to wear to and from the pool as we don't know what the weather is going to be like
- Swimming togs
- Goggles
- House Swimming Cap (Compulsory) - available for purchase from the College Uniform Shop
- Towel
To avoid any lost items, please clearly label all of your child's items including their shoes, underwear and uniform.
JC Lost Property – Please Label, Check and Return
Our Lost Property collection continues to grow, and we are asking families to please take a few moments to check that all belongings coming home belong to your child.
With busy school days, it is understandable that items can sometimes be misplaced or accidentally picked up by another student. However, clearly labelling belongings makes a significant difference in helping lost items find their way back to their owners.
We encourage all families to:
- Label all belongings clearly with your child’s full name, including school uniforms, jumpers, hats, drink bottles, lunch boxes, sports equipment and personal items.
- Check belongings regularly when your child arrives home, particularly if they have brought home an item that does not look familiar.
- Return items that may have been picked up or taken home by mistake. Please send them back to school as soon as possible so they can be reunited with their owner.
- Encourage children to look after their belongings and to check their classroom, playground and sporting areas if something goes missing.
A simple name label can make it much easier for staff to identify and return an item. It also helps reduce the amount of unclaimed property that accumulates throughout the school year.
We appreciate your support in helping our students develop responsibility for their belongings and consideration for others. If an item has accidentally made its way home, please check the name and return it — it may be something another child is missing!
Thank you for helping us keep our Lost Property under control and, most importantly, helping lost belongings make their way home.
