JC Prep to Year 2 Swimming Lessons
Our students from Prep to Year 2 will commence their swimming lessons at the Concordia Aquatic Centre (CAQ) this term. They will participate in five lessons, across Week 9 and Week 10.
Please ensure that students have the following items:
- Warm clothing - this would be great for the students to wear to and from the pool as we don't know what the weather is going to be like
- Swimming togs
- Goggles
- House Swimming Cap (Compulsory) - available for purchase from the College Uniform Shop
- Towel
To avoid any lost items, please clearly label all of your child's items including their shoes, underwear and uniform.
Rise & Read Club
Start your day with a story!
The library is excited to introduce the Rise & Read Club offering students the opportunity to start their day off right - with some reading time, of course. Starting in Week 7 (Book Week!), students will be offered the chance to come along to the library and find a cosy reading spot under the Library Tree, do some extra returns and borrowing or even learn more about our collections, our online catalogue and how to find their next great read with some help from Mrs Trappett.
Parents are welcome to drop their child/ren off to the library and continue with their day or they can stay for the morning and soak up the book joy with their child/ren. Please bring an umbrella for the wet weather.
Here's what you need to know:
Day/Time - 7.45am every Wednesday Morning
Where - JC Library at WSC
Supervision - 2 Staff Members will be on site for supervision
Logistics - Parents can drop their students to the Library and sign them in with one of the staff members. The students will then be walked over to the JC by staff in time for the beginning of the school day.

JC Grandparent's Day Catering - Wednesday 16 September
We would love your help on Grandparent's Day to either provide a plate of food for morning tea and/or help set up and serve.

Please find below the list of food suggestions for each year level to bring for children and grandparents to share for morning tea:
Prep – Sandwiches
Year 1 - Fruit Platter
Year 2 – Cold Savoury
Year 3 – Sandwiches
Year 4 – Biscuits/Slices/Cakes

Year 6 - Biscuits/Slices/Cakes
Please be aware that we have a number of students at the Junior College with severe nut and egg allergies. To help us provide a safe environment for all students, we kindly ask that food brought along for Grandparents Day does not contain nuts, boiled eggs, mayonnaise, or other obvious egg-based ingredients.
As we do not have the facilities to reheat food, any savoury items should be suitable to be served cold.
We would also appreciate food being brought in disposable plates or containers to assist with the smooth clean-up of the event.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we work together to keep all members of our community safe while enjoying this special celebration.

JC Performance Choir Bowling Excursion - Thursday 17 September
As a thank you for a wonderful term, the JC Performance Choir is invited to enjoy a social game of bowling during the middle session on Thursday 17 September (the second last day of Term 3).
This celebration is a reward for the students' commitment to their weekly rehearsals and recognises their outstanding performances throughout the term.
Event Details
• Date: Thursday 17 September
• Transport: arranged by the College with a 11:30am departure
• Venue: Sunset Superbowl, Toowoomba
• Cost: $12.00 (includes one game
Parents are requested to go to Parent Lounge to submit your permission and payment, if not done so yet.
JC Sports News
Ceentral Zone Track and Field Carnival
Despite some crazy weather on the first day of trials, which saw the meet stopped and postponed until Wednesday, our Central Zone Track and Field representatives enjoyed some great competition at O’Quinn several weeks ago.
Concordia was proudly represented across a range of events, with seven students selected in the Central Zone team to compete at the Darling Downs trials on 27 and 28 August.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to compete at a high level, represent Concordia with pride, and enjoy the experience alongside fellow athletes from across the region. Congratulations to all seven students on their selection and commitment to their sport.
Several other students narrowly missed qualification, with only the top two from each event progressing to the next level. This is the “nature of the beast” in competitive sport – learning to perform on the day under pressure. These carnivals provide valuable lessons in resilience and determination, and our students embraced the challenge with outstanding sportsmanship.
Concordia is immensely proud of every athlete’s effort.
JC Prep Ipswich Nature Centre Excursion - Tuesday 8 September
We are very excited to let you know that on Tuesday 8 September, we will be going to Ipswich Nature Centre for our 2026 excursion. As part of our Biological Sciences Unit, the Preps are exploring the external features of plants and animals.
If you haven't already done so, please go to Parent Lounge as soon as possible and provide permission for your student to attend this excursion.

JC Learning Showcase - Tuesday 15 September
We warmly invite you to join us on Tuesday 15 September from 4pm to 6pm to explore our classrooms and celebrate the learning that has taken place over the past term/semester.
Families and visitors are welcome to stay for as little or as long as you wish and visit as many classrooms as you choose. This evening is always a special highlight for students as they proudly share their learning journey with you.
We look forward to welcoming you on the night.
