State Honours Ensemble Program – Toowoomba
Seven Junior Campus students were accepted into the prestigious State Honours Ensemble Program – Toowoomba, held over the weekend of November 7–9. This outstanding educational initiative is designed to support music students in extending their skills and pursuing musical excellence.
Congratulations to Emma Hilkemeijer (Trombone), Levi Johansen (Trumpet), Ava Manteuful (Percussion), Zoe Sheahan (Clarinet), Aluna Smith (Vocal), Koto Soe-Yoshida (Trumpet), and Sony Thien (Flute), who should be very proud of their commitment, achievements, and positive attitude throughout the program. What an incredible opportunity!
Year 5 Band Immersion: Progress and Potential Concert
The Year 5 Band Immersion program concluded with the Progress and Potential Concert on Wednesday, November 5th.
This special event gave our Year 5 students the opportunity to showcase the musical skills they have developed throughout the year on their band immersion instruments to their family, friends and the Year 4 cohort. The concert program featured a mix of well-known pop songs alongside pieces written to highlight specific instrumental techniques. The performances demonstrated the students’ impressive ability to work together as an ensemble, follow the direction of a conductor, and perform confidently in front of an audience.
The Year 4 students were inspired by what they saw, eagerly imagining their own turn on stage next year. They were also captivated by performances from the Year 5 extension group, The CLC Concert Band and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
The concert was a wonderful celebration of progress, showing just how much potential our young musicians can achieve as they continue their musical journey.
Holiday Chess Clinic
A Chess Clinic/Camp will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd, and Thursday, December 4th, 2025, from 9 AM to 3 PM each day. This is a great chance for your child(ren) to receive professional chess coaching.
Participants will be divided by age and skill level, focusing on opening theory, tactics, endgames, planning, pattern recognition, and more, with practice games included.
Hosted by local coaches Les Lord and Ben Peach, both experienced and former chess champions, the camp is open to all primary and secondary school students in the Toowoomba district. The cost is $150. Please click HERE for more details.
